On
behalf of the 2004 Board of Directors and the general membership,
I welcome you to the Southeastern Biological Safety Association
website! I hope you find useful information that increases
your knowledge and personal relationships in the local and
regional biosafety community.
The membership of SEBSA represents the breadth
and depth of professionals involved in the biosafety profession.
Our members include safety professionals directly involved
in the management and oversight of biological hazards and
controls. We have facility professionals developing the latest
laboratory facilities to maximize the safety of the scientists
and the security of the agents. There are also vendor representatives
that represent the technology that is used throughout the
facilities. Together we have invaluable experience and knowledge.
Sharing our experience and knowledge is
what SEBSA is about. We encourage the free and continuous
sharing of information for the betterment of all. With the
explosion of work in the sciences, there is pressure on experienced
professionals for the education and training of new professionals.
Together we can help prepare the next generation of professionals
for the new challenges ahead.
As we move into a new year it is important
to recognize those that contributed significantly to the health
of this volunteer organization. I want to personally thank
outgoing President Daryl Rowe, outgoing Counselor Lee Alderman
and incoming Treasurer Jeff Owens.
I welcome you to become an active member
and participant in the activities of SEBSA. Please continue
to frequent this website for new information and the notices
of the next general meetings. Together we can make this a
successful organization.
