DESCRIPTION

Preventing laboratory-acquired infections (LAIs) is a constant challenge for biosafety professionals, especially with an emerging pathogen. This webinar will outline existing tools including the ABSA International Laboratory Acquired Infections (LAI) Database and APHL Laboratory Exposure Assessment and Symptom Monitoring Guide to determine the extent of the exposures, analyze the data to determine the root cause of exposures, outline gaps and identify additional steps needed to mitigate the risks. The webinar will also outline existing APHL tools Laboratory Instrument Pre-purchase Risk Assessment Checklist and Handling a Specimen Suspected of Containing a High Consequence Pathogen to mitigate risks related to instrument operation and how to safely prepare for and respond to a high consequence pathogen.
